12/19/2002 - Air2Lan and US Wireless Online plan to merge, with the transaction expected to close by Jan. 31, 2003. The new entity, called Air2Lan Online Inc., will serve more than 1,400 corporate accounts, two of the nation's largest convention centers and Wi-Fi hot spots located in hotels and coffee shops. Air2Lan Online will have more than 40,000 users after the merger, according to an announcement issued by the two companies. The new company will offer a full portfolio of last-mile, high-speed Internet access, 802.11 Wi-Fi hot spots, convention broadband and mobility access.
Air2Lan provides wired and wireless Internet access, wireless local area networks and value-added Internet services to small and medium-size businesses. Its service areas are located in Georgia, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, with fixed wireless broadband services offered in Montgomery, Alabama; New Orleans; Houston; and Jackson, MS. US Wireless Online offers fixed wireless broadband and broadband mobile wireless services to corporate customers in Georgia, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
