Globes correspondent 9 Sept, 2003 - Alvarion wins $23m deal in Latin America According to "Globes" sources, the contract is with Telefonica of Mexico. Delivery will start in the fourth quarter. Alvarion, a provider of wireless broadband solutions, announced today that an unnamed Latin American telecom company had placed a $23 million order for Alvarion wireless voice and DSL solutions. Under the agreement, Alvarion is supplying a point to multipoint fixed wireless access system providing telephony, corporate access and fast Internet access in a single system. This project will enable the customer to expand its voice and high-speed Internet access service to additional rural and suburban areas throughout its market, Alvarion says.

The network will provide contiguous coverage of more than 60 square miles, enabling high-speed access services to residential and business subscribers, according to Patricio Zorrilla, Ultranet2go's CEO.
