The Ash Creek Wireless mission is simply to provide residential and small business customers in Eastern Polk County and the Salem area with reliableand affordable high speed (broadband) internet service. Prior to our service launch most local internet users were forced to settle for basic Dial-up internet services. Those looking for higher speeds were limited to Cable (in urban areas), DSL, ISDN or Satellite service. Each access method offers some benefit but also has its limitations. Although a line-of-sight path is required for a wireless connection the path is not effected by clouds, fog, rain, etc. A Canopy system provides an over-the air encryption, which cryptographically scrambles the data bits, preventing anyone "listening" to the airwaves from deciphering any messages. In fact, the Canopy system's over-the-air link may be the most secure leg of the typical user's Internet connection.
7/6/2004, Broadband Wireless Business Magazine Corridor Communications Corp., a wireless Internet service provider based in Mountain View, Calif., has acquired Ash Creek Wireless. It also plans to form partnerships with hotspot management companies and provide the infrastructure for company-owned hotspots.

The Swan Lake Point Mountainsite (servicing Sprague River, Beatty, and Bonanza areas) is now up and operational. Wireless Internet utilizes Radio Frequencies to transmit encrypted data over an "unwired" network. Data can be transmitted at rates of up to 11 Megabits per second, which is faster than some wired networks! The customer premise equipment consists of a small PCMCIA card and host controller for installation into the PC. The premise equipment is authenticated to one of the provider's mountain transmitter to form a secure network connection between the two. Most Wireless networks are based on something called the '802.11b standard.' This technology was developed for internal use, in smaller areas. This Wireless technology was never intended to be used outdoors. However, e-ISCO's TurboCell service uses the Campus PRC protocol. This was designed specifically for outdoor use, so performance is significantly increased.

Broadband Wireless ISP - Lakeview, OR / Goose Lake Valley Oregon

The site is located in downtown Lakeview Oregon at Goose Lake Computing and is equipped with a Cisco model 5300 router populated with 48 modems, to a full, dedicated T1 line to the AT&T network. High speed wireless access - Vancouver, WA / Portland, OR
For those with the need for speed but can't get ISDN or DSL, we have the solution. Go wireless - "Just say NO to the Telco!" Cut the phone company out of the loop (pun intended). It works just like DSL except you use a wireless connection to the internet instead of using a special phone line from the telephone company. Wireless internet access has been around for a long time but it hasn't been until recently that the equipment prices have dropped enough to make it feasible for home users to use. Businesses have been using this technology for sometime because at the higher speeds wireless is cheaper than using a phone line (Telco charges more for higher speed phone lines but with wireless, the equipment costs remain static). We are developing a pricing structure that will rival DSL.
Basically it works by setting up an antenna and using a special modem that connects to your PC. This gives you "always on" internet connectivity. The speed can be up to 3 Mbps! Like DSL, the special modems connect to a network card in your PC. The workgroup bridge models can connect multiple PC's and there are PC cards for notebooks available as well. The technology is 2.4 GHz with frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS).
WISP Broadband Wireless ISP - Columbia, The Dalles, OR / surrounding rural communities in Oregon
INTRODUCING Wireless Internet - NetConnect is proud to announce it's new wireless internet connection. No more tying up your phone lines. Experience fast internet without the hassles of cable or DSL lines.
WISP Broadband Wireless ISP - Newport, Yachats, Waldport, Tidewater, Seal Rock, Siletz, Toledo, Otter Rock, Depoe Bay, Lincoln Beach, Gleneden Beach, and Lincoln City, OR / Oregon's central coast from Yaquina State Park to north of Nye Beach, and Hwy 20 east to the light
Newport Internet was one of the first ISP's in the country to offer high speed wireless internet connections (1996). We have recently upgraded our wireless network to the latest technology, and have greatly expanded our coverage area. We now offer the service throughout most of Newport, and in particular cover most of the business area from 20th street to the bridge, as well as coverage along the beach from Yaquina State Park to north of Nye Beach, and Hwy 20 east to the light. Please note that because the technology requires line-of-sight to our access points, hills, trees, or structures may create blind spots where we are unable to offer service.
All of our wireless access plans are metered by amount of data transferred. This allows us to provide performance far in excess of alternatives (DSL, cable) while charging competitive prices. If your application requires very high data transfer amounts (e.g. running a music swapping server), then the alternatives which limit your data rate may be more attractive. Native over-the-air data rate is 10mb. Maximum throughput is 4.5mb down and 1.5mb up. Our internet backbone connection is currently 3mb.
Fiber Optic Telecommunications for Oregon with regional partners to provide complete end to end network solutions
NoaNet Oregon provides Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) services in bandwidth tiers from 1 Mbps to 100 Mbps at each NoaNet Oregon Point of Presence (POP). Dedicated Internet Access is offered as an 'edge service' without additional backbone transport charges through a standard 100 Mbps Ethernet Interface.
Northwest Open Access Network Oregon (NoaNet Oregon) is a statewide member owned private cooperative corporation. Our members include community-based electric cooperatives, Native American tribal organizations and rural intergovernmental agencies comprised of cities and counties. NoaNet Oregon builds and operates the fiber optic backbone in Oregon. Members build and operate the middle mile and in some cases the last mile, to bring state-of-the-art connectivity to Oregon schools, hospitals, agencies, businesses and citizens.
Wireless telecommunications use a variety of frequencies and methods to connect people and computers to the Internet. Wireless technologies will communicate over distances of a few feet to 30 miles or more. Security protocols make the wireless connection just as secure as wireline. Bandwidth of 50 Mbs can be achieved with off-the-shelf equipment.
Low cost and rapid deployment make wireless technology attractive for last mile connectivity to homes and small businesses. Many communities have sponsored free hot-spot zones in their downtown core to promote tourism and economic development. Some wireless equipment will operate easily from solar power and transmit/receive sites can be 'meshed' similar to the cellular phone network to be self-healing and automatically route traffic for optimized bandwidth.

Broadband "Last Mile" Wireless Network - throughout the Willamette Valley from Eugene to Portland. Oregon
The Oregon Wireless Instructional Network (Oregon WIN) is a "broadcast quality" video network created for the delivery of distance learning opportunities to students and clients throughout the Willamette Valley. The network is composed of three interrelated wireless technologies. Oregon WIN is a consortium of universities and community colleges that operates an Instructional Television Fixed Service (ITFS) network throughout the Willamette Valley. The "last mile" wireless network provides video programming directly to homes, businesses, schools and government offices from Eugene to Portland. Oregon WIN operates in partnership with Sprint Corporation. Oregon WIN leases excess ITFS spectrum to Sprint for commercial use in exchange for the construction and operation of the Oregon WIN educational network.
Programming for the Oregon WIN network originates from the studios of the 10 member institutions. Programs and services include certificate programs, undergraduate and graduate degree offerings, cultural events, and public affairs programming.
Receive sites are easily added to the network by affixing a small antenna to the roof of a home, school or business. The signal from the antenna is converted to channels that can be received by a cable ready television set located in a classroom. Each site is able to receive up to five channels of programming simultaneously. Live audio interaction is provided through telephone connections.
